Sensory Garden - 2008
Eastwood, Nottingham.
This garden was built for the United Response charity who support people with varying degrees of learning disability. The old garden sloped upwards away from the house and was completely inacessible for wheelchairs. So, a flat garden was essential with raised beds meandering around the plot for the residents to interact with the plants from the comfort of their chairs. A mixture of surfaces were used including paving, setts, grass and gravel. A water feature, wind socks, lighting, windchimes and scented planting were also added to provide colour, sensation and new experiences.
